In 2016, NASA stirred up controversy by acknowledging Ophiuchus, a constellation the Sun passes through between Scorpio and Sagittarius. However, Western astrology still uses the traditional 12 signs.

Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, occupies the period from November 29 to December 17. NASA clarified that astronomy and astrology are different - astronomers track actual constellation positions, while astrologers use a fixed zodiac system.

The reason Western astrology ignores Ophiuchus is because it uses a tropical zodiac based on seasons, not the actual positions of constellations. So don't worry - your zodiac sign hasn't changed!
